How wonderful it is when you can design your own fabrics, wallpapers, wrapping papers, etc! I used my own design on a new shower curtain for the girls bathroom.
This opens up a whole new world - I am excited to work on some designs for interiors!
I collect boxes. Mainly wooden boxes. Mainly cigar boxes from far and wide. But any box with a story can take my fancy.
This may also explain my love for old, urban buildings; another type of box. The ones that look like abstract paintings. I am curious of what lies behind the facades and what stories they can tell.
Boxes are a place in which to hide love letters, a frame for found pieces of nature, a container of collections. Ah, collections! As well as boxes, I love to collect finds from nature... be it pods, stones, shells, plants... and the list goes on. A collection of collections! A cabinet of curiosities.
About 4 months ago I started a drawing a day. It is so wonderful... the perfect way of getting back into an art routine! It is a favourite part of my day. When lacking in inspiration I usually end up exploring a new medium or idea and really enjoying the 'commitment' of having to put something on the paper. The small format is great for a 20 minute drawing although sometimes I go way over 20 mins!
I love sketchbooks and have quite a collection - the different types of papers, textures... I have just bought myself a new Moleskine A4 Watercolour book and Im dying to start using it! I would love to be more loose with my daily drawings but the perfectionist in me finds it hard to be more messy! I think Ill save the Moleskine for a trip we have coming up - a sketchbook on the move.
You can find my 'dailies' over here :)
I have a tendancy to not finish work. I jump between mediums all the time and get excited about new ideas.. watercolour...3d...thick acrylics... so recently, I am patiently going through some unfinished pieces and satisfyingly completing them... or not. Some of them seem to have lost their meaning, their time has passed.
